Abstrakt

The increasing incidence of diabetes mellitus type 1 belongs to very serious health, social and economic risks. The diagnosis of diabetes at an early stage is very crucial step in starting the correct treatment.

In the case of diabetes mellitus type 1, the patogenesis is characterized by autoimmune insulitis resulting in the destruction of pancreatic β-cells. Therefore, the diferencial diagnosis is based on the detection of specific autoantibodies.

In our paper, we reported contemporary laboratory methods which allow the detection of autoantibodies directed against specific proteins such as glutamic acid decarboxylase (anti-GAD), tyrosine phosphatase (anti-IA2) or insuline (anti-IAA). We compared ELISA and RIA kits for the detection of anti-GAD, resp. anti-IA2 antibodies from different producers.

In view of clinical traceability, obtained data were analysed by Cohen's kappa to evaluate an agreement between studied analytical approaches.
