Abstract
The education of seniors is the kind of the work, what shall be stressed more and more at universities, in nowadays. Elder people today are active, requiring impulses for the development of knowledge and skills.
Musical Education at Charles University offers such possibilities. The course of musical topography of the Czech Republic is aimed at personal development of seniors, at the development of their interests and desires.
There are taken into account the age of students there and the fact that the study is focused on music lovers. Therefore, the learning principles are closer musical and pedagogical work in secondary school (in comparison with the preparation of music teachers).
According to this way the course starts with the knowledge of those objects that are able to learn and people who do not know music. All the students know anything about common history, about regions and places associ-ated with the life of any composers, about places connected with typical genres of music.
Only then, the students learn music in terms of aesthetic and semantic - as means of artistic communication. Just this is the area what is developed more and what results in deeper understanding music.
The verification of the learning outcomes proves the meaning of this learning for the musical develop-ment of seniors. But the contact with students also shows the impact on the participants of education.
