Rabbit Paw and Mouse Tail. Animal Body Parts in Folklore

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2018

Abstract

The chapter focuses on somatisms related to animals. Having studied prosaic folklore texts, text describes how the image of individual body parts relates to the stereotype of the respective animal (e.g., a mouse tail and a mouse stereotype) and also looks at the analogy of the corresponding parts of the human and animal body (animal paw - human hand) and its role in the context of the magical worldview.
