A Professional Portfolio of a Music Teacher

Abstract

This contribution presents one of the innovative ways of supporting a music teacher at a lower level of elementary school, which is preparation and active use of a professional portfolio. It presents possible contents of a music teacher's portfolio, which comes out of theoretical as well as practical experience, either gained first-hand or handed over.

It points out the benefits of portfolio preparation and the ways of using it at different levels of education (including doctoral studies) and in practice. It offers specific ways of compiling a portfolio, the creation and contents of which are influenced by inspiring studies of Teaching at a lower level of elementary school and two deepening specialisations at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University.

It leads the author towards finding valuable interdisciplinary connections, which can open new paths towards further studies and practical work.
