Abstract
The lexicon entry focuses on the life and work of J. and W. Grimm, leading personalities of German cultural life during 19th century, and deals with their activities on the field of philology.
J. and W. Grimm are authors of linguistic works (Deutsche Grammatik, Deutsches Wörterbuch) and literary works.
Grimms collected folk tales and legends (Deutsche Sagen), they were interested in mythology (Deutsche Mythologie). A world famous collection of fairy tales is Kinder- und Hausmärchen that inspired the writers from the most of European countries.
