Publication at Faculty of Science |

Abstract

The article deals with the famous garden estate and park called 'The Lost Gardens of Heligan' situated in Cornwall in the UK. It focuses on the history of the gardens and particularly on their reconstruction in the 1990s initiated by Mr Tim Smit.

The article also provides a detailed description of the present state of the gardens. Further, the work demonstrates the connection of the gardens to the phenomenon of the so called 'plant-hunters', and also to the broader context of gardens in Cornwall in general.
