Active Course Development Teaching Methods for University Educators

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2018

Abstract

There have been some changes in the the student population in recent years in the Czech republic. Data shows that, because of the changing demographic now being admitted to universities, students levels of motivation and attitudestoward learning are different.

In addition, no obligation for academic staff to pass any teaching or teacher trainingeducation, these changes appear to be quite a challenge for some university educators. The focus of this session is tointroduce our course curriculum that aims to mobilise teachers pedagogical skills and convince them to use activelearning techniques that give students the opportunity to spend more time with lecture content and provide them withevidence-based findings.

We have used our own educational strategies and learning situations as material to beanalyzed and linked to relevant theories and evidence-based effective practices (so-called "didactical windows"). Theprocess of the gradual course development will be discussed at the conference.
