Current Trends in Teacher Education in the Czech Republic

Abstract

The author will introduce current context in teacher education and main trends of the Strategy for Education Policy of the Czech Republic. Principles of new standards for teacher education programs, established by the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education, will be presented, as well as the regulation guidelines of the the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

The main focus will be put on the university implementation level and the analysis of the current curriculum policy and study content. Compared to the previous period, we see clear emphasis here on two areas: promoting inclusive education and enhancing student pedagogical practice, accompanied by a thorough reflection.
