Abstract
An explanatory afterwords for the Czech translation of the novel The Seventh Function of Language by Laurent Binet. The essay explores the concept of linguistic functions coined by general linguistics and literary theory throughout the 20th century and analyses the status of factual and fictive entities in a possible world of the novel.
