Hedda Sauer was born into a family of a university professor Rzach. She belonged to the circle of Prague German-writing authors, such as Oskar Wiener, Paul Leppin, Gustav Meyrink a Rainer Maria Rilke, with whom she and her husband August Sauer led an active correspondence at the turn of the 19. and 20. century.
In her literary work, particulary in her poetry, there are evident elements of the neo-romantic movement "Jung-Prag". Her writing also reflects the wariety and national diversity of the Prague cultural and social environment.
