This report presents a preliminary overview of the results and data obtained during an extensive archaeological survey conducted in the eastern foothills of the Kugitang Mountains, especially in the northern Pashkhurt basin in the late summer of 2016 and 2017. The Czech-Uzbek expedition resumed here a large-scale survey, which began in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

In 2016, the surroundings of the Burgut-Kurgan, as well as that of villages of Kayrit and Zarabag were subject to our research. The main objective was to cover as much of the landscape as possible in the Burgut-Kurgan area, the previously excavated monument of the Yaz-I period.

We focused on the study of the topographic features of monuments, including stone structures, so-called kurgans. They were mapped and analysed.
