Galabovo and its MBA Aegean and Anatolian connections

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2018

Abstract

While 30 years ago Galabovo and its uncovered sequence might have seemed almost enigmatic, our knowledge of the Middle Bronze Age in Thrace, the Aegean and Anatolia has grown considerably since then and the Galabovo evidence fits the emerging picture very well by now. This is therefore the right time and opportunity to roll-out the previous arguments and suggestions, to see how they stood the test of time and how they can be approached today.

The interpretations may not be as straightforward as they seemed 20 years ago, but Galabovo nevertheless remains a key site offering crucial evidence for long-distance contacts testifying its temporal inclusion in the broader East Mediterranean world.
