Risk of infective endocarditis in patients with end stage renal disease

Abstract

End-stage kidney failure patients dependent on renal replacement therapy have high incidence of infective endocarditis, mainly on hemodialysis with central venous cathteters. Diseases of aortic valve, previous endocarditis and the first six months of renal replacement therapy are statistically significant risk factors for infective endocarditis.
