Abstract
In his lecture dedicated to the anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Czechoslovak State, the author deals with the linguistic (predominantly stylistic and lexical) and content analysis of the New Year's speech by both Czechoslovak and Czech presidents. Based on specific printed and sound samples of selected speeches, he also points out their period conditionality.
