The Attempts to Strenghten the Position of Russian Orthodoxy in the Lutheran Environment of the Province of Courland

Abstract

The author analyzes the ethnic and confessional situation in the Province of Courland in the second half of the 19th century, as well as describes the process of creation of Russian Orthodox parishes in this predominantly Lutheran region.
