Abstract

The Visegrád (V4) Group is a cultural and political alliance of four Central European nations, namely, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. They have long had animal welfare interests and regulations, but their activities in relation to animal experimentation and alternative methods became more focused when they joined the EU in 2004 and adapted their national legislation for comply with Directive 86/609/EEC and later with Directive 2010/63/EU.

Today, their scientists and institutions have many collaborations with others in the EU and beyond, but activities are also organised within the V4 Group itself.
