Abstract
This text is the first chapter of the monograph. It defines the concept framework of this monograph.
Further it introduces a comprehensive project focused on language education of Deaf children. The author presents both medicine and linguistic points of view on deafness, bilingual and bicultural model of education of Deaf childen and current situation of bilingual and bicultural education of Czech Deaf children in this the chapter.
