The mission of Bertrandon de la Broquière, esquire of the duke Philip the Good, in 1432-1433 from the Holy Land to Burgundy became famous thanks to the interest of its protagonist to the Oriental affairs. After travelling the Asia Minor, Bertrandon meet the Ottoman sultan Murad II in Adrianopolis.

The article analyses this part of the travelogue entitled Voyage d'outremer as well as the aspects of the ideal royal power visible also in other contemporary travelogues made by Guillebert de Lannoy or the Castillan knight Pero Tafur.
