Evaluation of the Integrated Thematic Education with Elements of Project-based Education Focused on the Students Scientific Literacy Development

Abstract

The integrated thematic education with the elements of project-based education realized in May 2017 at Gymnázium ALTIS was aimed at scientific literacy development. Evaluation of the project is described, concerning teacher's observation, students feedback, and ideas for its improvement of poorer places before a next year realization.

The main goal of the project was to show students the practical use of science in the process of real-life problems solving and their scientific literacy development. Within the 3 days project, students solved various issues concerning the Earth and its atmosphere (theoretical and practical tasks from Chemistry, Physics, and Biology) and spent one day in the Natural History Museum of the National Museum.
