The construction of monasteries, whose patron was emperor and Czech king Charles IV, were connected with contemporary prestigious artistic works by its stylistic character. Many artistic citations were adopted from these works.

It was especially the building activity in the Cistercian Abbey in the Golden Crown, where Michal Parléř is documented, brother of famous Peter Parléř. Another example is Cistercian monastery in Klášterní Skalice, where the foundation stone was laid by Charles IV.

Last example is monastery of Celestins in Oybin near Zittau which was also founded by Charles IV.
