Biological and targeted treatment

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine, Third Faculty of Medicine |
2018

Abstract

The publication presents an attempt to look at the development of biological and targeted treatments in various medical disciplines. Thee aim is to inform the wider public about the possibilities and risks of this dramatically evolving treatment, which is actively used only by physicians in specialised centres, but which must at the same time be adequately brought to the attention of those who send patients to the centres and also those who may experience the complications of such treatment.

The book co-operated with experts from various sub-areas of internal medicine, as well as clinical pharmacology, oncology, neurology, dermatology and ophthalmology. The book gives an idea of the position of biological and targeted treatment at the end of 2018.

Given the rapid increase of new data from ongoing clinical trials, it will be necessary to supplement, extend and modify the information contained in the individual chapters in the future.
