This research project focuses on the value of family in the Romany society as well as on the religiosity of the Romany families. The project therefore introduces some specifics of the Romany family life and the context of spiritual concepts in these families.
The topics like hierarchy, gender and spiritual purity in the Romany family are closely examined in the research. Attention is drawn to the meaning of the life-cycle ceremonies and rituals (for example baptisms, weddings, funerals).
A short part of the research also introduces the aspects of the Christian missionary work which tries to emphasize the family values among Romanies. The main objective of this project is to closely introduce the specific concepts of family and religion in the Romany society.
Moreover the findings also focus on the meaning of the Christian missionary work among Romanies - one of the most populous minorities in the Czech Republic.
