Publication at Faculty of Law |
2018

Abstract

The paper deals with the position of the Czechoslovak Republic during the period 1918-1938. It concentrates on the issue of safeguarding security during the time after the establishment of Czechoslovakia until the Munich Agreement.

Czechoslovakia tried to base its security in the interwar period on its membership in the League of Nations and also by bilateral agreements in the framework of The Little Entente. In spite of the failure of these efforts in the period before the Second World War, they can provide knowledge for solving the international security issues of the current Czech Republic.

Especially the basic role of a worldwide security organization supplied by regional agreements, that are in line with the universal role of a world organization. On the other hand, unilateral enforcement of the interests of a specific state or states can lead to the worsening of international relations.
