Abstract

In infant period, the differential diagnostics of fever is large. After eliminating respiratory, urinary and gastrointestinal infection, neuroinfection should also be taken into account.

The presented case report deals with early diagnostics of central nervous system infection and with the issue of interpretation of inflammatory parameters in the early stage of a bacterial infection. It emphasises the fact that the early cerebrospinal fluid findings in the case of bacterial meningitis may not always be developed and calls attention to difficulties in the interpretation of inflammatory parameters with regard to their biological half-time.
