Abstract

The beginnings of translating from Modern Greek to Czech fall into the middle of the 19th century. For a long time, the attempts to breach the barrier of bias towards the Modern Greek literature were not successful.

However, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, there was a significant change in the reception of Modern Greek literature in Czech culture: the best contemporary Greek works were systematically translated at that time.
