Abstract
Neonatal hemochromatosis (NH) is a severe syndrome of unclear etiology characterized by fulminant hepatopathy or congenital cirrhosis in neonatal age, iron deposition in the liver and extrahepatic tissues, and a possible association with renal tubular dysgenesis (RTD) [1, 2, 3, 4 ]. It turns out that this could be one of the causes of unclear spontaneous abortions in the mother's anamnesis and probably occurs more often than previously thought.
The life expectancy of a newborn with this syndrome is only a few days or weeks, and early liver transplantation with high mortality is often unavoidable. Due to poor prognosis, early diagnosis of NH and early initiation of treatment are important.
Prevention with a high percentage of effectiveness is key for further pregnancy.
