The rising number of urological procedures and the increasing age and morbidity of urologic patients increase the risk of perioperative bleeding complications. There is no simple recommendation to prevent bleeding.
It should be based on the current state of the patient, who undergo the specific urological procedure. Often, consultation with a specialist (hematologist or angiologist) is useful.
In this paper we present an overview of the current possibilities of pharmacological prophylaxis of bleeding during urological procedures.
