This paper presents partial results of a two-year-research project focused on professional identity of teaching assistants. The authors attempted to identify professional dispositions and work values as important aspects of professionalization of teaching assistants and to discuss them with regards to the ethos that accompanies this profession.
The study included teaching assistants from the Czech Republic (n=59) who had completed their professional training and work in elementary schools with pupils with handicap or with underprivileged pupils.
