Geochemical research in the area of deserted medieval village

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2019

Abstract

The long-term research interest of the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, in the deserted medieval village of Hol has allowed to combine different methodological approaches. The presented results are based on my master thesis (2017).

The following geostatistical analyses were carried out in 2018. The premise of this research is based on the fact that past human activities can be reflected by elemental composition of contemporary soils.I tried to define the anthropogenic geochemical record in the area of deserted medieval village Hol (the Capital City of Prague).

The village was founded in the second quarter of the 14th century and deserted in the first quarter of the 15th century.
