World War I brought the renewal of independent Czech (more precisely Czechoslovak) state, which arose from the ruins of Austro-Hungarian Empire. On the basis of the Treaty of Ver-sailles, Hlučín region, small part of Silesia subordinated until that time to Prussian (German) sovereignty, also became a part of Czechoslovakia.
For this territory, ruled by special govern-mental commissioner, validity of former German regulations was kept. The validity of Czecho-slovak (Austrian) law was introduced gradually, however not in its entirety.
