Involvement of donors of blood plasma to the donor's registry bone marrow

Abstract

Bone marrow voluntary donor registers enable and ensure the search for a suitable HLA a compatible donor for patients with both haematological and non-haematological malignancies, congenital disorders of hematopoiesis, immunity or metabolism, for which it was not found suitable a bone marrow donor, or hematopoietic stem cells, in the family. For these patients are often the only curative treatment of allogeneic haematopoietic transplantation stem cells.

The work was based on the hypothesis that blood plasma donors are very good to enter the registry of voluntary bone marrow donors. Methods: A quantitative research was conducted through an anonymous non-standardized questionnaire.

The target group was blood plasma donors aged 18 - 35 years. Aim of the study: The main aim was to find out the interest of blood plasma donors in the donor registry bone marrow.

Results: The research clearly shows that more than half of the respondents expressed their opinion interest in entering the bone marrow donor registry and the vast majority would use it to enter register your blood plasma donor center. Conclusion: Blood plasma donors are a very suitable target group for potential entry into bone marrow donor registers.

Benefit: Create an awareness leaflet for blood plasma donors about the existence of registers. Thanks to plasmapheretic centers, the bone marrow donor registry has been extended by more than 1000 new potential donors.
