Abstract

Dogs can do real miracles with their sense of smell. Even today, at a time of sophisticated sensors and robots, people cannot replace their work, and not at all in search of vast terrain, full of obstacles and all kinds of odors of various origins.

One rescue team (handler and dog) can replace 50 people in the same time, so the preparation of quality canine rescue teams and groups is still a topical issue. In the monograph, unique in its scope, you will find: - theoretical knowledge of domestic and mainly foreign sources - statistical data processed from more than two hundred Czech and Slovak rescuers - analyzes of specific interventions of various specializations (area, footprint and rubble) and other case reports - personal experience of the author and other rescue handlers It focuses on the three types of work that are most commonly used in practice, ie the search in the area, in the rubble, and in the tracking search; other rescue specialties is rather marginal.
