Abstract

This paper deals with the individual perception and interpretation of crime reports and media information about crime and punishment. It presents the first results from a qualitative audience research study carried out by the Institute of Criminology and Social Prevention in 2018.

We used the focus group method and we tried to understand where people get information about crime from and how much people rely on the media when interpreting issues of crime.
