Teaching skiing for younger school age children (6-10 years old) should be as much fun as it can be. That is why the choice of suitable methodology of teaching skiing should be tailor made for the needs of children.
The deciding criterium for the choice of method is mainly the child and his courage and entry level of motor skills. It also depends on suitable slope and snow conditions.
When we teach child who is a bit afraid and with limited motor skills it is better to choose stemmed ski position method. We start with basic skills on flat and gentle slope which are part of general skiing training.
We follow on with skills from specialized skiing training and then we practice stem turms. When children learn stem turns we gradually work on changing ski position from stemmed to paralell.
