Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) is a unique diagnosis that requests an interdisciplinary collaboration of health care. This is often a challenging problem in common clinical practice.
The most serious morbidity of patients with PNES is caused by iatrogenic interventions. This review is focused on the is sue of iatrogenesis of patients with PNES, on the possibilities to improve collaboration between neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists and physicians of primary health care and emergency service, on the optimal educational presentation of diagnosis PNES and psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic programmes for these patients.
