For older patients, the surgery for non-melanoma skin cancer of the nose is primarily indicated for bleeding, fear, and pain. These patients prefer one step surgery mainly.
Even in experienced hands it means not less than 25% of incomplete tumor excision. Based on outcome of followed group there is no evidence to make an urgent re-excision in BCC finding.
However, the situation of SCC is different with regard to possible metastasizing. In all cases the patient should be dispensarized, preferably at the workplace that performed the surgery.
