Abstract
The article introduces functions that could be fulfilled in the past by any watercourse. Here, on the example of the Vltava River, which is a symbol for Czechia, it performs the function of energy, transport, recreation, its water is a raw material or provides a livelihood to many professions.
He can serve but also harm, so he must be treated with respect.
