Secondary REM sleep behavior disorder - a review

Abstract

REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a parasomnia characterized by vokalization and motor activity during REM sleep which reflects dream mentation and results from impaired muscle atonia during REM sleep. Hrein, we present diseases that are commonly associated with RBD, namely synukleinopathies (Parkinson disease, dementia with Lewy bodies and multiple system atrophy) and narcolepsy.

Moreover, the fact that antidepressants can trigger RBD and also the risk conversion ti synucleinopathy associated with antidepressants use is discussed
