Abstract

Burwell v. Hobby Lobby is a landmark decision by the U.

S. Supreme Court of the United States of America allowing closely held for-profit corporations to be exempt from a law on the basis of religious objections.

It is for the first time that the court has recognized a for-profit corporation's claim of religious belief. The article analyses the decision from the perspective of religious freedom and of corporate law.
