Abstract

Abstract How are the insurance companies and their agents fallen when their (un)ethical practices had to become a subject covered by legislation? I do not deceive myself: there is obvious immoral conduct in the insurance sector, as much as in other business sectors. However, the insurance business is based on the foundations of trust and fair conduct.

Unethical behaviour of insurance companies and insurance brokers threatens to disrupt the very foundation of the insurance industry: the mutual solidarity among insurance holders, which presumes trust in the fair conduct of all parties. Do all those whom this issue concerns realise the fatal consequences that the loss of trust in the insurance industry would have? Let this publication serve as a contribution to the newly emerging professional discussion.
