Abstract

The chapter defines the basic required characteristics of the teaching assistant profession. Based on the analysis of interviews and comparison of data with the knowledge of other authors (or with legislative sources), the text points out the preferred personality dispositions of teaching assistants, key characteristics and attitudes for the performance of teaching work.

Attention is also paid to required qualifications, knowledge and skills necessary for assistants. It is also necessary for teacher assistants to further improve their qualifications during working in the profession, so the final part of the chapter is devoted to further education of teacher assistants and its available forms.
