Ipseity between its phantastical constitution and symbolical institution

Abstract

The problem of ipseity is a fundamental problem in Marc Richir's phenomenology. In the light of the phenomenology of phantasy that he develops in the last period of his thinking, ipseity has to be grasped as something that functions already in phantasy schematisms.

Furthermore, if the field of phantasy has to be understood as the phenomenological field itself, ipseity also has to be understood as something that is constituted in phantasy. However, this phantastical constitution of ipseity cannot yet account for its human experience.

In order for the ipseity to become human we have to articulate with the symbolical dimensions that institute it into an identity.
