Metaphysics in the Novel: de Beauvoir & Merleau-Ponty on the Relationship between Philosophy and Literature

Abstract

In this presentation I deal with Simon de Beavoir and Merleau-Ponty and their respective ideas of the relationship between philosophy and literature. More specifically: I present Beavoir's notion of the metaphysical novel, in which Merlau-Ponty also finds interest.

In Addition, I dicuss Merlau-Ponty's idea of style, which comes to expression in literary works.
