Fixation of osteochondral fragment after patellar dislocation with biodegradable MAGNEZIX pins

Abstract

We report a case of a 14-year-old patient with an osteochondral fragment of the patella after episode of patellar luxation caused by an injury. Osteochondral fragment was openly reduced and fixed with MAGNEZIX pins.

Degradation of the magnesium alloy did not interfere with fracture healing. Showing an excellent clinical result and free range-of-motion, the contour of the implant was still visible in one-year follow-up.
