The case of mechanistic explanation in molecular biology: abstraction or idealization?

Abstrakt

It is argued that the arguments of Love and Nathan (2015) against the mechanistic account of scientific explanation in the context of molecular biology ultimately fail because they are based on confused conceptual distinction between the processes of abstraction and idealization.
