Abstract

This presentation focused on nineteenth centruy American national identiy and the key contributors to its identity-the frontier, Anglophilia, and Russophobia, explored how the transformation of the United States as a global power influenced its involvement in the Far East and affects its foreign relations and how the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt encouraged and solidified this transformation.
