The aim of this paper is to present IBSE activity based on a simplified process of phenol reaction with nitrous gases on TLC. The activity was tested during Environmental Seminar with 14 pre-service biology teachers.
The activity proved to be feasible. All four student groups successfully solved the task and they were able to interpret the results correctly.
The IMI tool was used to gain feedback. Students seem not to feel pressure during their activities.
In all other subscales (interest/enjoyment, effort/usefulness, perceived competence, value/usefulness) the students scored medians.
