Orientation and irritation

Publication at Faculty of Humanities |

Abstract

An irritation doesn't always bear exclusively negative connotation. In fact, every error, irregularity and a deviation from a norm brings a thought of the system functionality and potential innovations.

This talk brings up the function of information and hierarchy in various contexts of urban space, especially in orientation and wayfinding. Links to interaction design in virtual environments are highlighted, and special attention is given to the importance of applying principals of User Experience (UX) to urban landscape.

Thus, the significance of semiotic research and social sciences in general is highlighted for everyday city life.
