Seasonal activities and settlements in medieval and early modern Czech Lands

Abstract

The paper summarizes the current knowledge of seasonal activities and settlements documented in archaeological records in medieval and early modern Czech Lands. We will focus on forms of activity, chronological and spatial distribution, socio-economic, demographic and institutional context as well.

Given by the character of the archaeological record and the state of research, we will focus on some upland regions especially. We will lay stress on the dialogic relationship between archaeology, geography and agrarian history.
