This article addresses the acquisition of Czech idioms in a Czech monolingual boy of between 6 years and 6 months of age and 7 years and 8 months of age. This study is based on an analysis of authentic material: a corpus of transcriptions of audio recordings of the child in verbal interaction with adults, and diary records.
The frequency of types of acquired idioms was analysed. Also the source of the input of the idioms (family, media, school) was taken into consideration.
One of the most important aspect analysed was the semantics of the idioms which the child used.
